aneesa's fault! looking through crescent yrbook and the hcokey part. makes me all sad again. sigh.

Events of 2003 would definitely remain in our hearts for many years. After the disappointments of 2002, we could no longer settle for anythign less than a gold.

Training began immediately after the disappointing season. Both B and C Division girls trained extra hard. Under the hot sun, we polished up our basics, built up our stamina and improved on our team play. Time was set aside for gym workouts, test matches, more running and meetings to discuss our future plans. During this period, hockey became our all.

Tournament began in early March. We were determined to advance to the finals and gave our best for every game. With 43 goals in our favour and losing only 1-0 to defending champions, Northland Secondary School, we had managed to advance to the semi finals where we met our archrivals, St Theresa's Convent. We had won that game 3-0 through flicks. This was our ticket to our gold, and we were not willing to let failure come knocking on our door.

7th March 2003, our final was played against Northland. With the support from our friends and our coach, Mr. Nordin, we did not let fatigue or the idea of defeat get the better of us. Without the support from the school and our coach, I doubt we would have pulled through.

Though we had lost through penalty flicks that day, our friends and Mr. Nordin looked upon us with much pride in their eyes. That was enough to make us feel like champions. We did not need the trophy to prove our worth, we had the heart of a champion and that was enough. Undeniably, the pain took days to go away. We were so close and yet so far. Our journey had come to an end, but our juniors would pick up from where we left off and carry on this journey and never give up.

Thank you Mr. Nordin for all those dragons, wings and fairytales. Thank you for your undying love and support. Crescent would be nothing without you. And finally thank you to all our friends and teachers who have been our firm supporters from DAy One.
